Never Let Me Go

Never Let Me Go

And we're back!  After some lazy blog upkeep and a few breaks here and there, book club is back in action.  I am very excited to again have purpose in my life.  We are currently reading Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro.  We will be meeting Wednesday November 5th at 7pm at Rae's Lakeview Lounge.  Because I'm super classy and hosting our first meeting back at a bar we will not be viewing the film adaptation of the book.  Here is some more information about the author and the film.  Just to warn you in case you have not thought that far ahead, the description of the film may give some things away if you are busy trying to finish the book, as I am.  Full disclosure is important in adult life and I need more practice.

Fall is Upon Us

Book club is back! After a fabolous summer break we came together in October to discuss Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer. It was one of my personal favorites and it was also very interesting to compare to the movie starring Elijah Wood. I also found a great reading guide online that raised some interesting questions:

We are currently reading We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver. I will schedule a meeting for this month, November, to discuss this fabulous book. Send me a quick email or add a comment if you need a little extra time for this one. Fall is my favorite season and the perfect time to curl up with a good book. As always send me any suggestions for fabulous reads or new interests.

Happy Reading

December

Thanks to everyone for a great first year of our book club, I've had a great time! The cookie exchange was lots of fun and I really enjoyed this last pick. Our next host is Miss Lauren and her pick is:
Cutting For Stone by Abraham Verghese
She will contact everyone with a meeting date for January. To make things run a little more smooth I will be contacting each host and reminding them to send out an email with their meeting date at least 2 weeks prior to the book club date. We have been generally trying to have meetings within the first two weeks of the month working around big holiday weekends. I hope this will help everyone with their scheduling.

It has also been suggested that we announce the next two books at each meeting. So Miss Megan Fritts is the host after Lauren and she has chosen:
Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
Megan will be scheduling out meeting in February. And if you missed the last meeting but would still like to sign up to host just send me an email or a text and I'll sign you up for the next available month. Thanks again for a great year and here's to looking towards 2011!

Cheers and Happy Reading
